One day, I will post these reviews in the actual month that I read them, but for now, here is all that I read last month and April. I mentioned being in a reading slump in February, and I finally got dressed and went to Barnes & Noble, where I picked out books that I wanted to read just for the fun of it, without any other reason. I think it worked because I finally got back into reading and enjoyed reading all the books.
Bride by Ali Hazelwood 3/5
I’m so glad I randomly came across this while scrolling through Instagram. It took me back to middle school and my Wattpad days, where I devoured all the werewolf books that I could. I loved reading this book! It was exactly needed to get out of the reading slump I was in. It was a cute, interesting concept since a vampire and a wolf got married. It was easy to read and follow, and didn’t require significant mental and emotional investment.
The book is about an alliance between vampires and werewolves, and that becomes a hate-to-love story. I wish the world of the two main characters were more developed, and we could see more behind the scenes of the working society.
King of Envy By Ana Huang 2.5/5
I was looking forward to this book, and honestly, it kind of just fell flat. It was a solid 2.5/5 star book. It’s about another billionaire falling in love with a model. I can’t put my finger on it, but the book seems very redundant- there are other books in the series just like it, and they flow better.
Not in Love by Ali Hazelwood 2/5
This was an easy book, a quick and easy read- nothing too memorable about it. It’s about a scientistic who has a secret affair with one of the guys who is doing a hostile takeover of the company she is working at. She happens to be BFF’s with the company’s owner, which puts her in a tough spot.
Kiss the Villain by Reina Kent 3/5
If you know me, you know Reina Kent is one of the few authors that I preorder books from. This was a highly anticipated read. I literally could not sleep because I wanted to binge-read it. Compared to her other books, it was good but not the best. The writing, the flow of the novel, and the character development were great; however, I wish she had fleshed out the main villain a little bit more. It was a dark romance novel, and yet the romance was non-existent until the last 10% of the book.
Close Your Eyes by Teresa 3/5
This was a good read. I don’t usually read mystery or thriller novels, but this caught my eye for some reason. I liked how the story was set up; it was easy to follow and a little predictable. The premise of the story is that a police officer’s daughter gets kidnapped, and they are trying to find her. It gives a glimpse of how easy it is to kidnap children, how it literally could be your next-door neighbor or professor, and the process and statistics of finding a lost child.
