Weekend Reflections October 1, 2024

Welcome back to my weekend reflections, where I dive into the highs and lows of my workweek! You know those weekends when everything’s kind of expected, and then your coworkers decide to throw in a wild card? Yeah, that was this weekend. The patients? No surprises there. But my coworkers? Let’s just say they were more eventful than the caseload.

Highs: I got to leave early on Monday, and that felt like winning the lottery. Especially since I’m coming back on Friday for some extra training with the weekend crew.

Lows: Let’s be real—work is work. We don’t need to be besties. Just do the job and go home. It’s not that deep. So when I see coworkers getting into petty arguments about XYZ, I’m over here like, Do you really have the energy to argue about this? I mean, come on. There’s work to do, and we get paid to do it—not to debate who’s right.

I had a conversation with a friend at work, and I passed along one of the best pieces of advice my mentor gave me early on: Never say anything you wouldn’t want the whole department to know. Trust me, it’ll get around. So, be mindful of how, when, and where you speak. It’ll save you a headache later.
