Welcome back to my weekend reflections, where I dive into the highs and lows of my workweek!
High: It was a good work weekend!! I can not remember the last time it went this smoothly. I had a check-in with my manager on Monday, which went well. I had a busy day on Trauma on Monday, and was helping other floors as well, but I enjoyed it since the census was low on Saturday and Sundays, and I didn’t have too many consults. I am on our social committee and spent an hour brainstorming ideas and events for the next quarter that my colleagues could discuss during the monthly meeting- I am off on Wednesday, hence why my role is more of content creation than operational and event manager. I am excited for the upcoming quarter, I think our department enjoys them and has helped boost morale.
Low: My manager asked during our check-in if I would like to join our burnout committee. I was surprised, one, that we have a burnout committee (since whennnn??), and two, that my answer to that question was no. I was upfront and said I am not burned out and my role and responsibilities look different from most of the social workers in our department- I work weekends- and don’t think there is much that I can contribute to it as of right now. I think it speaks volumes about how things are going if you have to create a committee to address it. Thankfully, I have set boundaries and recognize signs of burnout.
Also, can I just mention real quick that the unexpected traffic, let alone accidents that occur on my commute to work on Mondays, are the biggest “Are you kidding me moments”- I swear it shaves a couple of years off my youth. Anyways, I hope yall guys have a good week ahead!
