Weekend Reflections July 1, 2025

Posted on July 1, 2025July 2, 2025 by gabby

Welcome back to my weekend reflections, where I dive into the highs and lows of my workweek!

High: There have been quite a few patients for whom I had to find the next of kin. Finding the next of kin is always a challenge. It’s digging through charts, calling people, agencies, and facilities to get more information. I enjoy the challenge; it helps break up my day-to-day work and allows me to use a different set of skills.

I also had my eval last week, and all things considered, it went well. I heard quite a few things from my coworkers about how their meetings went, so I went into mine with some caution. My manager is not my enemy, friend, or anything—she is my manager, that’s it. I think having that mindset has helped keep boundaries in place and understand what is expected of me. I think there’s a mutual, unspoken understanding between us: she trusts me to handle my job on the weekends when she’s not around, and I always do.

Low: I had quite a few patients who needed to be discharged home with IV antibiotics, and setting those up takes time. It’s a team effort, a lot of communication between different team members, and making sure the coordination takes place on time. It’s been a while since I have had so many in one weekend.
