Welcome back to my weekend reflections, where I dive into the highs and lows of my workweek!
It has been a minute since I’ve written one of these on here…September, to be exact. I missed recapping my work life and sharing some of the behind-the-scenes of being a hospital social worker. So much has happened over the last couple of months, from patients asking me for my ID (a story for another day) to our social committee pulling off five days of Christmas for our department. The Five Days of Christmas was something I had been working on for a while, and I’m so happy we were able to accomplish it.
High: It was a good weekend! I took a red-eye to come into work on Sunday. I was off on Saturday, attending my friend’s wedding in California, hence the red-eye flight. I didn’t have any consults on Sunday or Monday that got my heart pumping, just normal discharge planning cases, which I was thankful for since I was running on little to no sleep. I was also able to finalize our department’s social calendar from February through July and send the email out to the department. Being in charge of the social committee events is one of my favorite parts of my job; it’s a creative outlet and a way to bring joy into our chaotic work life!
Low: Running on four hours of sleep on Sunday and Monday. I didn’t get much sleep during my travels, let alone during the wedding week.
I am excited to get back into the workflow after this busy wedding season, and to share some more patient stories, my work life with y’all again!
