One day I will post this the month I read the books, but for now, here we go! It was an okay month for reading, I didn’t read anything serious, but I did read a whole series which I enjoyed, I need a mental break and it provided it.
I stumbled across an entire series by K.F Breene on Kindle Unlimited purely by chance. When one of the books popped up in the week’s top five recommendations, I thought, “Why not?” and downloaded it just for fun. To my surprise, it felt like I was 16 again, diving back into those nostalgic werewolf stories on Wattpad. Fantasy is making a comeback, and honestly, I’m loving it!
Below is the reading order for the series, in case you want to check it out:
- A Ruin of Roses by K.F. Breene
- A Thorn of Ruin by K.F. Breene
- A Kingdom of Ruin by K.F. Breene
- A Queen of Ruin by K.F. Breene
- A Cage of Crimson by K.F. Breene
- A Cage of Kingdoms by K.F. Breene
Now, let’s be honest—the series isn’t particularly memorable. All six of the books are a solid 2.5/5. In my opinion, the first four books are much stronger than the last two. I found the dragon storyline and romance more compelling and well-developed. The chemistry between the main characters in the earlier books is on point, and the side characters bring a fun, light-hearted vibe that really balances out the darker themes. But honestly, the last two books just didn’t have that same magic.
That said, it’s the perfect kind of series for when you want to switch off your brain and just relax. The writing is easy to follow, though I did find myself skimming some sections, hoping the story would pick up the pace. Overall, it wasn’t a bad read at all!
